Getting A Great Auto Lease In 7 Steps

Even veteran car buyers can be confused when it comes to the best way to lease a car. The terminology is mystifying, and it’s hard to know...

Best Car Lease Deals This February

February’s Best New Car Leases

With winter weather still plaguing much of the country, it wouldn’t seem like a good time to hike around car lots looking for a new car. However, that lack of demand can work in your favor when it comes to finding a great deal on a new car lease.
This month’s best lease deals include offers on some of our highest-ranking vehicles, including the 2018 Honda Civicsedan, Honda HR-V, and Mazda CX-5. There’s even an uncommon lease deal on the 2018 Toyota Tacoma, and there are several new car lease offers with payments less than $150 per month.
Before you enter into a complicated lease contract, you should make sure you understand how leasing works by reading our articles on how leasing works and choosing whether to buy or lease.

Some automakers limit their lease deals to specific areas and customers with top-notch credit scores. Lease deals typically apply only to certain trim levels and have mileage limits that must be strictly adhered to if you want to avoid fees at the end of the contract.

2018 Kia Optima

Deal: $149 per month for 24 months with $2,986 due at signing
Competition is fierce in the midsize sedan market, with a redesigned Toyota Camry and Honda Accord arriving for 2018. Kia is not sitting still, however, adding advanced safety and infotainment features to the 2018 Kia Optima and offering great lease deals on the car.
In our rankings of midsize cars, the Optima earns a spot about a quarter of the way down the list.
The 2018 Optima earns a five-star overall crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). For 2018, it gains blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.
This February’s lease deal includes 12,000 miles per year before excess mileage fees accrue.

2018 Mazda CX-5

Deal: $219 per month for 36 months with $1,999 due at signing
The 2018 Mazda CX-5 holds one of the top spots in our rankings of compact SUVs. In a segment more known for utility than personality, the CX-5 delivers unmatched handling, above-average fuel economy, and an opulent interior. There’s a little Miata in the CX-5’s DNA, and it shows.
That’s not to say the CX-5 is perfect. It is held back from greatness by a cargo area that’s smaller than many rivals’, a cumbersome infotainment system, and a somewhat weak engine. Of course, you’ll forget about all that when you come to twisty bits of road.
Mazda allows 36,000 miles over the course of the lease before they will charge you for excess mileage.

2018 GMC Terrain

Deal: $249 per month for 39 months with $2,499 due at signing
The GMC Terrain is fully redesigned for 2018 with an upscale interior and spacious seating for five. This February’s lease deal gets you into a 2018 GMC Terrain front-wheel-drive SLE with affordable monthly payments and a reasonable amount due at signing.
If you currently lease a non-GM vehicle, GMC will reduce the amount you have to pay at signing to $999. You can drive up to 32,500 miles with no excess mileage penalty.
In our rankings of compact SUVs, the Terrain holds a spot near the top. It comes standard with a 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system that supports Android AutoApple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a 4G LTE data connection.

2018 Volkswagen Jetta

Deal: $149 per month for 36 months with $2,349 due at signing
There’s a redesigned Volkswagen Jetta arriving soon, so it’s an excellent time to get your hands on the current model at a great price. This month’s Jetta lease deals come with low monthly payments, though the amount due at signing is a bit higher than you’ll find for some other compact cars.
The 2018 Volkswagen Jetta earns a spot about three-quarters of the way down our rankings of compact cars, but it gets good fuel economy, plus its passenger and trunk space is larger than many rivals’.
If you drive a lot, this lease deal may not be for you. Excess mileage charges accrue after 30,000 miles, which is a lower limit than you will find on many three-year lease deals.

2018 Hyundai Elantra

Deal: $139 per month for 36 months with $2,499 due at signing
In our rankings of compact cars, the Elantra takes a spot just below the segment leaders. The base SE includes a 147-horsepower four-cylinder engine that earns EPA-estimated fuel economy of 28 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.
This deal applies to the 2018 Hyundai Elantra SE sedan with an automatic transmission. Lessees are allowed 36,000 miles over the three-year term of the lease before they are hit with excess mileage fees.

2018 Subaru Impreza

Deal: $195 per month for 42 months with zero due at signing
The 2018 Subaru Impreza only earns a spot about three-quarters of the way down our rankings of compact cars, but it's one of only two vehicles on the list that comes standard with all-wheel drive. The other is its Subaru WRX sibling.
This month, you can get an Impreza 2.0i hatchback with a manual transmission with a zero-down lease deal for three and a half years. The deal allows 12,000 miles per year or 42,000 miles over the course of the lease.
Even with its included all-wheel-drive, the Impreza gets good gas mileage. It has a spacious interior but loses spots in our rankings due to mediocre cabin material quality and a weak engine.

2018 Toyota Tacoma

Deal: $199 per month for 36 months with $3,198 due at signing
Great lease deals on the 2018 Toyota Tacoma are pretty rare, but depending on where you live, you can likely find one this February. Most of the available deals apply to the mid-range SR5 trim level, but customers in the Northwest can get a good deal on the TRD-Pro trim.
In our rankings of compact pickup trucks, the Tacoma holds a spot near the bottom. That’s more an indication of the strength of the segment than an indictment of the Tacoma, however. While definitely a competent truck, the Tacoma doesn’t match its rivals’ fuel economy, interior finishes, or towing capacity.
The Tacoma lease deals include 12,000 miles per year before excess mileage costs begin to accrue.

2018 Acura RDX

Deal: $299 per month for 36 months with $2,499 due at signing
Acura showed a lightly disguised prototype of the next generation RDX at the recent Detroit Auto Show, so look for incentives to ramp up to clear the remaining 2018 Acura RDXmodels off the lot. The deal they are offering this month applies to the front-wheel-drive RDX.
30,000 miles are included in the three-year contract before you have to pay an excess mileage charge for each mile you drive.
In our rankings of luxury compact SUVs, the 2018 RDX earns a position about halfway down the list. The five-passenger RDX has a refined V6 engine, confident handling, and plenty of interior room for both front- and rear-seat occupants. Its rankings suffer due to an overly complicated infotainment system that uses two screens to perform the functions that most rivals can handle with one.

2018 Chevrolet Camaro

Deal: $299 per month for 39 months with $3,169 due at signing
The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro is one of our higher-ranked sports cars. In its current generation, it has evolved from a muscle car into a well-rounded sports coupe that can handle the curves as well as it conquers straightaways. Still, its interior doesn't match the standards of some rivals.
This month’s lease deal applies to the Camaro Coupe LT with a 275-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The lease allows 32,500 miles before excess mileage fees will be charged.
